By fixing the EQ and the gain, you can get some pretty happening sounds out of your amp with the Tonelab. Anyway, you need different settings if you run the Tonelab through your amp.tube amp that is. I think channels 11-20 are the same as 1-10. With the Tonelab there is a double set of the same settings. I find I get the best of both worlds this way.Ģ.

Then I will add another guitar with an amp and blend the two togehter. Record into Samplitude going through the Tonelab through my Mindprint DTC line in's. There is a livelier sound with the mic and with the speaker cone moving and the character of the mic, I still like a real amp better.ġ. Just like their is a difference between a bass cab being mixed compared to a DI. There is a difference when you have a DI with guitars and the Tonelab compared to a real amp. I do find that the Vox does not sound as good as my Fender Twin clean channel, but I would say the Vox sounds as good as some solid state amps I have heard. It is great! I compared it to the Pod XT and found the Pod had a harder sound and more harsh on the top end.

I think it'll be fine, but I,m still getting the princeton. I'll try tracking some stuff soon, and see how it does. I would compare the reverg, flanger and modulation to the Eventide stuff, rather than say a Maxon pedal or old chorus sounds, it's definatley more modern sounding effects. The effects are extra, and have a different flavor my other gear doesn't have. Over all, I'm glad i got it, It brought a nice variety of amp sounds to my studio that i didn't have before. Some of the sounds are pretty processed and some are dryer, but sound good. The sound can really breakup like an amp, and I'd imagine the tonelab would sound pretty descent through an amp, I used my old Fender Stage SE112, which is noisy and old, and the vox sounded pretty nice and dirty, but putting headphones changed drasticlly, but not in a bad way. But that's o.k, they'll compliment my other pedals. "DREAMY", comes to mind.īut back to the vox, the effects are nice, they sound like a studio processor device, rather than stomp pedals. I'm still going to buy that amp, I have to say that the word. And i know my own gear and how it tracks, and I can imagine using these sounds to contrast with what i usually do.When I got over the fact that it didn't sound like the Princeton, i started listening to what it could do. you must realize that Iove 60' and 70's music, and I don't think this device sounds vintage, but It's rich and smooth, I don't feel it's too digital sounding, but rather hot and rich. it's awesome! I know I'm buckin the trend by admitting it, but it really sounds good. Well i just got through loggin in some hours with the Tonelab, and my verdict is. Tonelab owners, tell me how you are users yours! I have a feeling that in a mix, it's gonna sound just fine. How do you like it now that the learning curve is over? I know others have been using this piece for some time now. The effects seem usuable, to a certain degree, but I'll run most effects through some stomp boxes, I got this for the amp sims. The usual lack of taste preset predictability haven't offended yet, right out of the box, so I think after setting up some presets wi'll running through some other gear will give me an idea of what the recorded audio will sound like. I'll be using this for recording at the studio only, no stage monitors or anything. and the sound changes with each different output setting, so it seems some expereimenting with the unit will be neccesary.īut so far, I'm impressed with the potential, it definately has character, and I hope it will talk me out of buying that Fender Princeton Recording AMP that dropped my jaw a month ago. It has a output preference in the menu for running to headphones, an amp, direct recording, etc. I got a few nice sounds within a few minutes of unboxing it. =>Preset added in the last 7 days.So far, with only a few moments to get down with it yesterday, I think I can work with this piece.
